UPDATE 2/14/09
Since writing the article below, Don Wagner, Senior technician for the Peace of Mind Paranormal Society, and I have joined in the endeavor of writing a book called, Hauntings of Pittsburgh and the Laurel Highlands. Wagner has led over 200 paranormal investigations incuding Moundsville Prison, the West Overton Museum, private homes, hotels, businesses and more. He is writing a story about each investigation and McGuinness is rewriting and editing the stories and publishing the book this fall. Wagner has many images to accompany the spine tingling details of spirits, their voices and actions, who live in the buildings we frequent in SW PA.
NEW TV SHOW!
Wagner will host, Paranormal Quests, on Comcast21 TV early Spring 2009. The one-of-a-kind talk show will interview folks who have had experiences and guests like Marci McGuinness, who has accompanied Peace of Mind Paranormal on several investigations.

In the last issue of Around Ohiopyle I included a note about a book I am writing called Haunted Laurel Highlands. Shortly after delivering the magazines, I received a call from a paranormal group called the Peace of Mind Paranormal Society. I have always been interested in the paranormal, but have never seen a ghost that I know of. Many people have told me stories through the years and I did a few talks on those stories years ago.
When I first decided to do a Haunted Laurel Highlands book, I thought I would be collecting stories told to me by others. I did not imagine going into historical buildings and encouraging the spirits to communicate with me. BUT I DID! I have recordings of spirits answering my questions as I walked and talked throughout the Titlow’s upper floors. I did not hear them answering at the time of the recordings, but their voices are on the recorder, quite clear. Five of them. Two were almost together, so I believe these were two different spirits. Yes, I believe now. I actually had a spirit pass through me. I shuddered, got cold, shuddered less violently, and got cold again. It was VERY hot and humid in there that night.
I will continue to go ghostbusting to places like the West Overton Museum, Bender’s Pit Stop and the Stone House while collecting stories from you. Over the winter while I play on the beach with my mother in Florida, I will be writing the book, preparing it for a spring release.
Do you have stories you would like to include? Would you like us to visit your building and communicate with your spirits? You will receive a CD of all unexplained electronic voice recordings and images. Call 724-437-2116.
