Where is Marci McGuinness & What is she up to?
In 2009, Marci Lynn McGuinness wrote and published 4 books, developed the annual Around Ohiopyle Map and wrote a screenplay. She also took care of her mother, Hazie, with the help of her daughter, Tara, and her sisters, Shelly and Kelly.
Butch's Smack Your Lips BBQ Cookbook was written with National BBQ Champ, Butch Lupinetti, Gone to Ohiopyle was illustrated by Ohiopyle artist, Colby Love, Murder in Ohiopyle and Other Incidents are short stories and mysteries by McGuinness. The last book, Hauntings of Pittsburgh & the Laurel Highlands, was written with ghostbuster, Don Wagner, of the Peace of Mind Paranormal Society.
Speed Kings, the film adaptation of her book, Yesteryear at the Uniontown Speedway, is being read right now by an LA production company.
Although she loves Ohiopyle, she is not a fan of cold unpleasant weather, so as October dawned, she started looking for a waterside house to rent in Florida. She has close friends in FLorida, so with the help of Parthena Rodriguez, she found a groovy little old house on the Indian River Lagoon in Melbourne. She can walk to town with its many shops, restaurants, marinas and haunts and the ocean is just across the bridge-a few minutes drive, a few more minutes bike ride, a nice walk.
She had planned on leaving Ohiopyle just after Christmas, but the Farmer's Almanac predicted a storm would hit December 19th, so she left December 16th at 5:30 am. The Farmer's Almanac was right. No one in her family could get to Ohiopyle for Christmas dinner!
During January, she wrote a children's book, Message of the Sacred Buffalo, with Buffalo Messengers, guardian of the Sacred Buffalo at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Illustrations are now being worked out, and she plans to release the book in late May or early June.
Backyard Gardens Cookbook by Vicki Marietta, the Mustard Lady will hit the stands in May 2010. All those hot pepper mustard fans will finally get to be privy to the Mustard Lady's own recipes!

McGuinness has recently been contracted to write the book, The Complete Guide to Keeping Your Houseplants Alive & Thriving, Everything you need to know Explained Simply, to be published by Atlantic Publishing Company in Ocala, Fl.
She will also be contacting many Ohiopyle area businesses in March & April concerning their being included on the Around Ohiopyle Map, which will be distributed throughout the region in late May.
McGuinness is in the middle of donating chosen copies of her vintage photographs to the Ohiopyle-stewart Community Center History Room.
Although she is very busy with her work, she takes time every day to walk her Jack Russell Terrier to the river, beach or downtown Melbourne. Life in Florida agrees with her...she watches the sail boats go by while writing.
